AUTHOR TESTIMONIALS

I can’t recommend her highly enough.

Kristy has worked with me on a number of books and I can’t recommend her highly enough. She has a wonderful feel for a story, knowing which ingredients to sprinkle here and there, and how to make the whole thing shine. She has an incredible eye for detail, often pointing out faint pencil lines I didn’t even know I’d made. On top of all of this, Kristy is incredibly efficient and just a lovely person to work with.

With gentle suggestions, she helps turn my stories into something beautiful.

Over the past twenty-five years I have worked with many editors from different publishing houses and Kristy is one of the most talented. She has a keen and meticulous eye, understands my stories and seems to have a photographic memory. She is very thorough and, very importantly, is kind, so the editing process becomes an enjoyable time of learning and fun. I’ve learned so much more about plot, structure, sentence order, and the incidentals of grammar and punctuation with Kristy. With gentle suggestions, she helps turn my stories into something beautiful. Later I can’t see Kristy’s influence but I know it’s there. I find this subtle transformation fascinating. And I believe that is the mark of an extremely good editor.

Kristy is keen to acknowledge and maintain the author’s initial impulses and vision.

Kristy is a calm, reassuring voice in the chaos of the first draft, able to see the big picture of the required major structural changes and improved character development, yet keen to acknowledge and maintain the author’s initial impulses and vision. In the later stages of development, Kristy has a forensic eye for the misplaced word or image.

I always felt the first draft of my new manuscript was of a higher quality just by having finished the last draft of the previous book with Kristy. I called it having ‘a virtual Kristy’ in my head during the drafting. That’s how influential and important an experienced editor like Kristy can be.

I would gladly work with Kristy again!

Kristy was a very thorough editor – her detailed notes and insights on how the plot and structure of my novel could be improved were particularly valuable. She was clearly invested in my characters, the story and in making the book as good as it could be, and was very approachable and happy to chat in more detail about any of her suggestions or comments. I would gladly work with Kristy again!

Kristy has a real talent for guiding you through the difficult first draft.

I have worked with Kristy as an editor on the publication of my first novel and also through a mentorship whilst working on my second. Kristy is encouraging, approachable and generous with her knowledge and it has been a genuine pleasure to work with her. Kristy’s feedback is both sensitive and insightful and has been instrumental in helping me find the right direction for my stories. If you are looking for a writing mentor, look no further than Kristy. She has a real talent for guiding you through the difficult first draft.

Kristy enabled me to see what I needed to do.

It was a pleasure working with Kristy. Her astute editing of my latest novel, Castle Hill Rebellion, enabled me to see what I needed to do. The editorial report was so thorough and insightful and gave me lots to think about.

Kristy Bushnell is a writer’s dream.

Kristy Bushnell is a writer’s dream. She is professional, meticulous, warm and insightful. Kristy worked with me on two of my books and quite frankly they became better because of her editing. She is one of my favourite editors.

She doesn’t just edit your work, she lives it.

I’ve been lucky enough to have Kristy edit three of my books. Each time, Kristy comes to the work with ideas, enthusiasm and a ruthless eye. My books have benefitted enormously from Kristy’s talent. She doesn’t just edit your work, she lives it, and embraces the characters, plot and world as if they were real. The structural edit she provided on my latest book, Sick Bay, was invaluable, and her copy-editing skills have saved me time and time again.

I owe this brilliant editor many thanks.

With careful and thoughtful encouragement, Kristy extracts diamonds from the rough, helping authors like myself polish up our manuscripts by nutting out crucial plot holes, character inconsistencies and timeline faults. My published books are such a long way improved from their early drafts, thanks to Kristy’s expert advice. Nothing is too much trouble. Kristy remains positive and understanding, and gently guides me in the right direction. I owe this brilliant editor many thanks. Thank you, Kristy, for all you do.

Kristy is able to draw out the very best in an author.

I have had the great privilege of working with Kristy on all my books thus far. She is a skilled, perceptive and insightful editor who is able to draw out the very best in an author. I have greatly trusted her opinion and insight into my work, and my books have been all the better for it.
